Venice Capital of Sustainability is a goal which is today more relevant than ever and represents a horizon on which the best intellectual and productive resources of the city should be channelled. The fields on which to operate are many, but there is no doubt that for history, potential, material and its symbolic value Porto Marghera represents our most important asset for combining conservation with development, making it the place where policies aimed at environmental, social and economic sustainability find their maximum expression.
The Forum for Sustainable Venice has worked out a series of proposals, which are immediately implementable and which, if included in an overall green — productive and environmental — reconversion project of Porto Marghera, could give a concrete and economically advantageous content to the objective of transforming Venice into a leading city in the process of ecological transition that can no longer be postponed.
The slides above briefly illustrate these proposals.
